Doctors at the coast general hospital in Mombasa were working the
extra mile to keep alive two conjoined twins who were born sharing a
liver. The baby boys who were delivered through ceasarian section on
Thursday morning were due to be transferred to Nairobi for specialized
surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital today but the exercise was
called off after the hospital said its facilities were currently
occupied forcing AMREF’s flying doctors service to call off the
evacuation.
The Kenyatta National Hospital administration has however assured
that the conjoined twins will be admitted as soon as the hospital finds a
ventilator which is key in keeping the babies alive.
