Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, is now charged with
battery for allegedly assaulting a female reporter, with key evidence
caught on tape. And the man who would be President — who proclaims that
“there has to be some law and order in our country” — is going to the
mattresses, cheaply tweeting statements mocking the accuser and
reflexively defending the accused. His campaign went so far as to
proclaim that Lewandowski will stay on the job even if he’s convicted.
Right. Why would Donald Trump, who has yet to show a sliver of respect
for American legal traditions or indeed for any norms of decency, start
now?
